Love Versus Intimacy

Reblogged from Heaven of my Heart

There are many avenues in our relationship with God, but two that I want to focus on today are:

  1. His love
  2. Intimacy or Connection with Him

His love – God loves us, we probably all know that. What is the more difficult thing to understand is that He loves us regardless of what we do or don’t do. Just as I love each of my kids regardless of what they do or don’t do. Nothing we do or don’t do can cause Him to love us anymore. Likewise, nothing we do or don’t do can cause Him to love us any less.

Intimacy or Connection with Him – This is much different than His love. It may sound the same at first, but the two are worlds apart. This is what followers of God strive for in their daily walk. Why? Because when they have it, it alters everything about them. Once you have it, really have it, it changes you and you remember what it was like once it is dampened.

Sin affects #2 but does not affect #1. #2 is why we spend time with Him in the mornings – we value our relationship with Him to give Him the best part of our day. His connection means more to us that ANYTHING else, for it affects every other part of our lives.

.. ranting on what God brings to the table ..

God’s love is perfect, it isn’t good love or great love – it is perfect love. Love so perfect that we struggle to understand and get our hands around it. Once we experience Him in the depths of our heart, we are finally experiencing what we were created to do –  have a relationship with our Creator.

Are we deserving of His love? Absolutely not, none of us are. His love is so perfect that He devised a way to have relationship with Him understanding that we are sinners. That way was the cross.

May each of us pursue the most important relationship we have and understand a little more than we ever have the intricate grace, acceptance, and long suffering of Your Nature.

You are my magnificent obsession.
