Worshiping Idols

I have a question, in need of an answer
It has to do, with the work of a crafter

A sculptor that uses, ceramics or clay
Carefully carving, human like shapes

Lifeless statues, angelical faces
Waiting in line, to be put in their places

These little figures, exquisitely made
Trick by the millions, the people who pray

Unable to speak, see, much less hear
They keep forgiving, as sinners go near

Lighting a candle, respectfully kneeling
People confess, their worries and feelings

Now let me ask you, one simple question
Didn’t they read, about God’s condemnation?

God through the Bible, ordered us all
To worship Him only, or nothing at all

“You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, …” Exodus 20: 3-5
